Year's Highlights

As the Assistant Principal, some responsibilities have included:

Finding and building the leader in us all is integral to a team approach to best help our students.  Helping create teacher leaders has come about in two separate ways:

1) encouraging teachers to step forward and share their talents through in-house PD

2) choosing and going with teachers at each academic level to leadership conferences to develop skills and align our current practices with Common Core Standards, and then bringing back the information learned and sharing with others in our district.

Helping Create Teacher Leaders
Professional Development Given

Multiple trainings have been offered to teachers from K-12. Topics have included reading strategies, vertical and horizontal alignment, writing techniques, and implementation of the Achieve3000 program at grades 3-8.

A major responsibility this year has been the creation of a Career Technology Education Pathway. This is a concurrent enrollment agreement between the local college, TC3, and McGraw High and then accepted by State Ed. A three course sequence can earn students up to 11 credits, while a five course sequence can gain them up to seventeen.  New courses, descriptions, and applications have been created to help prepare McGraw students for life after high school graduation.
