What is a Lexile?
Achieve 3000

This year, our reading classes are working with a program called Achieve 3000, which has replaced Read180.  Achieve is a research-based, evidence-based reading intervention program that grows with your reader.  Every non-fiction article is differentiated to the reader's individual ability level so that everyone has a personalized reading experience.  The program measures reading development in Lexiles and continually assesses and stretches a student's learning, no matter what their level is.  There are three benchmarks a year: in the beginning, middle, and end of the year to best identify which level your student is reading at. Guided instruction goes hand-in-hand and is provided by me based on patterns of need identified by the previous week's strategic lessons prepared. Each student has the ability to do this program at home by going to the website www.achieve3000.com, and parents also have the ability to monitor their child's growth from the parent portal.

The Lexile Framework for Reading is a scientific approach that places both the reader and text on the same developmental scale, making it easy to connect your child with books targeted to their reading ability.
